DBS Altitude Card Review 2026: Is Singapore's Go-To Travel Miles Card Worth It?

If you've been on the hunt for a travel miles card that doesn't require a S$65,000 salary or a banking relationship worth six figures, the DBS Altitude Visa Signature Card is probably already on your shortlist.

It's one of the most accessible premium travel cards in Singapore. Solid earn rates. Two free lounge visits a year. A 10,000-mile renewal bonus. And right now — one of the best sign-up reward packages in the market.

But is it the right miles card for you? Let's get into it.

What Is the DBS Altitude Card?

The DBS Altitude is DBS's flagship travel miles card — built for the Singaporean who travels regularly and wants to accumulate miles on everyday local spending, not just overseas trips.

Unlike cards that only reward you generously when you're overseas, the Altitude earns 1.3 mpd locally — including on bus and MRT rides — which means your daily commute is quietly building your next flight redemption.

Solid earn rates, lounge access, and a generous renewal bonus — but there are two hidden costs most reviews skip over.

Factor What the Bank Says What It Actually Means
Local Earn Rate 1.3 mpd on local spend Includes bus and MRT via SimplyGo — your daily commute earns miles Genuinely good for a local rate Most travel cards drop to 1.2 mpd locally. The extra 0.1 mpd adds up over a year.
Overseas Earn Rate 2.2 mpd on overseas spend All foreign currency transactions Competitive — matches Citi PremierMiles Use this card every time you travel. Every overseas purchase accelerates your miles balance.
Miles Accrual DBS Points — every S$5 spent Not every dollar — every S$5 Spend S$4.99 and earn zero points for that transaction. Small purchases under S$5 earn nothing. Structure your spending accordingly.
Miles Conversion Fee S$25 per conversion Easy to overlook — adds up Every time you convert DBS Points to airline miles, you pay S$25 (excl. GST). Convert in bulk, not in small batches.
Annual Fee S$196.20 First year waived Pay it — 10,000 bonus miles on renewal At 1.5 cents per mile, that's S$150 in value. Your net fee is effectively S$46.
Lounge Access 2 free visits per year Access to over 1,500 airport lounges worldwide via Priority Pass. Two visits annually — enough for most leisure travellers.
Min. Income S$30,000/year · Age 21+ One of the most accessible premium travel cards No S$65k threshold. No required banking relationship. Open to most working Singaporeans.

The Two Catches Nobody Leads With

The S$5 Rounding Rule

DBS awards points for every S$5 spent — not every dollar. That means a S$4.50 kopitiam purchase earns zero points. A S$14 lunch earns points only on S$10 of that spend.

For most people this is a minor inconvenience. But if you use this card for small daily purchases, you're leaving meaningful miles on the table over 12 months. Save the Altitude card for larger purchases — groceries, dining, transport, online shopping — and use a no-rounding cashback card for small transactions.

The S$25 Conversion Fee

Every time you convert DBS Points to KrisFlyer miles, Cathay Asia Miles, or any other programme, you pay S$25 plus GST.

Convert 5,000 miles or 50,000 miles — same S$25 fee. So the strategy is obvious: accumulate, then convert in one large batch. Never convert in small amounts.

The Verdict

RealisedGains Rating: 4 / 5

The DBS Altitude is one of the best entry-level travel miles cards in Singapore. The 1.3 mpd local rate, 2.2 mpd overseas, two free lounge visits, and accessible S$30k income threshold make it genuinely attractive to a wide range of working Singaporeans.

The S$5 rounding rule and S$25 conversion fee are real gotchas — but both are manageable if you understand them going in.

And right now, the sign-up rewards package makes this one of the highest-value moments to apply in recent memory.
